I'm still wanting to develop online shopping directly through Milkypaws, just to make it easier for you.  I love the emailed orders too, don't get me wrong, but I know if you are anything like me, you know what you want, and just want to get it!  So I hope to get that all done soon too.

Still getting my sewing room the way I want it after all of our renos last year.  If my husband reads this, he will surely laugh, as I haven't accomplished too much in that room since my last post!  But sewing in the family room downstairs has it's advantages too.  It isn't very much fun having to clean up all my fabric, scissors, etc every time I use them so that people don't touch them, but it's so nice to be in the same room as my daughter or husband or both.  And the view out of the window down there is amazing.  You can't see too much except for the backyard, but in the summer, the sun is sparkling off of the pool, the dogs are laying on the warm concrete, and birds are chirping on the fence.

We've had the cold and flu bug that has been going around, just when we think we are over it all, one of us gets it again!  Sure makes it hard to keep up with everything around here!

Hope everyone is having a great March so far! ]]>Wed, 26 Jan 2011 11:50:43 -0800http://www.milkypaws.com/1/post/2011/01/end-of-the-tunnel.htmlCould it be, is that light at the end of the tunnel?  Our house renos are almost done!  What we thought to be a 4 or 5 week job, has turned into 8 weeks, granted we added a few extra small things to the list of stuff to be done.

Up next... putting everything away!  The kitchen and our daughters room are the only rooms that are completely put away, cleaned and ready to go.  Everything else is in various stages of readiness.  But our blinds should all be here hopefully next week, the contractors will be gone, and I can get stuff done! 

It will be a pleasure to not have to sew in our basement where we are trying to live.  I love that the table down here is by the window, overlooking the pool and the dogs running around it, but I miss the solitude and the space that I had upstairs in my own room.  But pretty soon, that will all be the way I want, and I'll be longing for the days of being able to sit down here and sew!]]>Wed, 12 Jan 2011 10:42:14 -0800http://www.milkypaws.com/1/post/2011/01/weekly-blog.htmlI think maybe I should change the heading of this section, I seem to be out of time every week!  Christmas was great, it was nice to get out of town!  Our renos are almost done, there`s still a whole lot of painting to be done, and some railings, but the end is in sight!

I have really come to appreciate those who value time with their families, and those who are willing to sacrifice space if it means not working outside of the house, just so they can stay at home with their kids.  We have been living in half of our basement, so about 600 square feet, with 2 adults, 1 child who is 8, 2 big dogs, and a cat who is here somewhere, but spends all her time hiding under the bed.  If this was a permanent thing, I would have to do some serious downsizing, which in reality, probably isn`t a bad thing.  So for those of you that live crammed, you have my admiration and respect!]]>Fri, 03 Dec 2010 15:34:15 -0800http://www.milkypaws.com/1/post/2010/12/december-already.htmlSnow is falling all around us, Christmas lights are on in the neighbourhood, people are frantically shopping for that perfect gift.  Ever wonder how we have all gotten to this point in the year, where there is so much panic and so many expectations?  We all seem to procrastinate on the shopping for presents, and we all seem to feel that it is so necessary to spend X amount or more on each person.  More and more, I am trying to spend time making something for everyone on my list.  We don't buy for our siblings anymore, and not even really for neices and nephews, and something small for our parents.  We have finally figured out that we should be spending our resources making Christmas special for those people living in OUR house, not providing a present filled Christmas for other people.  Perhaps it sounds a little bit selfish, but it is up to us to provide a nice holiday for our daughter, where we can, to some extent, control the amount of gifts she receives.  She is 8, she loves presents, but more than anything, she is appreciative of Christmas being about spending time with your family and friends.  I have seen too many families where it's all about the presents and who got whom what, which isn't the legacy I want to leave my child with.  Let's see if we can all live a little simpler, and remember the true meaning of Christmas!]]>
